Shaking things up (me and my Mac Book Pro)
Yes, it has been an Internet eternity since I posted last, and yes, this bothers me, but I've been buried--first in weeks of research, and finally, in learning to live and work in the Mac world. Yes, I too have jumped on the "if it can run Windows, I'm buying one of those pretty things" bandwagon. When the Intel Core 2 Duo versions of the Mac Book Pro shipped in late October 2006, I decided to just go for it.
Having lived with IBM Thinkpads for the past 10 years, and feeling the need to shake things up a little, I figured switching to a Mac would be a good way to do it. Old friends Brian Randell, Bernard Wong, and most recently,
Russ Nemhauser had extolled the wonders of the Mac life, so I figured "what the heck?"
So I've been embroiled figuring out how to use the thing, getting Windows installed in a
Parallels virtual machine, and all the rest. Amazing how much "unlearning" you need to do when moving to an entirely new environment...
I love the machine so far. More posts to come, I'm sure, but they may be sporadic -- I'm having too much fun with the Mac!
