Shaking things up (me and my Mac Book Pro)

Yes, it has been an Internet eternity since I posted last, and yes, this bothers me, but I've been buried--first in weeks of research, and finally, in learning to live and work in the Mac world. Yes, I too have jumped on the "if it can run Windows, I'm buying one of those pretty things" bandwagon. When the Intel Core 2 Duo versions of the Mac Book Pro shipped in late October 2006, I decided to just go for it.

Having lived with IBM Thinkpads for the past 10 years, and feeling the need to shake things up a little, I figured switching to a Mac would be a good way to do it. Old friends Brian Randell, Bernard Wong, and most recently, Russ Nemhauser had extolled the wonders of the Mac life, so I figured "what the heck?"

So I've been embroiled figuring out how to use the thing, getting Windows installed in a Parallels virtual machine, and all the rest. Amazing how much "unlearning" you need to do when moving to an entirely new environment...

I love the machine so far. More posts to come, I'm sure, but they may be sporadic -- I'm having too much fun with the Mac!

No doubt there were murmurs in the crowd at VSLive prior to the WMI session when we walked in the room to see a laptop on the platform with a glowing Apple and OS X displayed on the projector before you had cycled over to Windows.  I kept looking at the door as if expecting a scene from 1984 with Fawcette sending in Windows censors to say you couldn’t do that.  Of course, I’m kidding, but still how times have changed!  Thanks for your topics at Dallas, they were great as usual!

Welcome to the club Ken.  I moved over to using Macs 2 years ago and having been running Parallels for the last year and love it!  In fact our company has moved over to macs as well!
